Here is my week 4 spreadsheet:

Questions:
    • Were you surprised by any of your media usage? What was your most used and why? Least used and why?
No. Most used:Watch DVDs (it was a long movie)
Least used: a tie between Go Online and Listen to Tapes
    • What is your favorite medium and why? Explain in detail.
My favorite medium is the radio. I have explained about this in more detail last time.
    • What type of media consumer are you? Are you active or passive? Explain.
I think that I was a passive consumer this week because I had so much homework, and I played outside a lot.
    • What would advertisers say about you (if you were to guess). How would they strategize to sell you their product? What product do you think that would be?
I think that they would think that I was not a good target because I don't shop. I think it's boring.
They would probably be most successful in selling me CDs or MP3s.
    • Do you think your media usage is healthy? Why/not?
I think it is healthy because I don't obsess over the media. See below for more explanation.
    • How do your media habits compare to those of the KFF kids? Who has healthier habits?
I think that I have healthier habits because I watch less TV, keep my daily comp. time to 30 minutes, and get enough exercise.
    • Are there any anomalies to your usage this weekend? Are there extenuating circumstances that made it high or low?
Yes. This Sunday, it was about to rain, so we played outside as much as we could, knowing that we would soon get rainy weather, and wouldn't be able to play outside any longer.
That, and I had looooooads of homework.

Write up for week 3:
    • Were you surprised by any of your media usage? What was your most used and why? Least used and why?
I was surprised because I didn't watch any TV. My most used media was doing homework on the computer because I had lots of homework. My least used was reading a book. Usually, we have family reading time every day, but Dad brought home a movie on saturday, and on friday, my mom and my sister went shopping, and my dad and I stayed home, doing homework, and putzing around.
    • What is your favorite medium and why? Explain in detail.
My favorite medium is the radio. I have explained about this in more detail last time.
    • What type of media consumer are you? Are you active or passive? Explain.
I think I was a passive media consumer this week because I didn't seek out news or entertainment or things like that.
    • What would advertisers say about you (if you were to guess). How would they strategize to sell you their product? What product do you think that would be?
Advertisers would get tired of trying to get me to buy things beause I don't really need the things that they typically advertize for, and can't afford the really expensive things.
    • Do you think your media usage is healthy? Why/not?
I think that I am healthy with my media usage because I am not that type of person who just has to watch the next showwith the media. I do homework and exercise regularly. I have a mix of the types of sources I like.
    • How do your media habits compare to those of the KFF kids? Who has healthier habits?
The KFF kids spent much more time watching TV and less time exercising. I think that I get enough exercise, and I still watch some TV, but not that much.
    • Are there any anomolies to your usage this weekend? Are there extenuating circumstances that made it high or low?
This weekend was an odd weekend because I was sick, and because my grandmother visited for most of sunday.

Write up:
  • Were you surprised by any of your media usage? What was your most used and why? Least used and why?
What surprised me about my media usage was that I did not seek out sources of current events as much as I did last year. Last year, I had to study current events in my social studies class. I enjoyed it and learned a lot about events around the world and close to home. However, I have fallen out of the habit.
My most used media was using the computer for homework because I have loads of homework. My least used was reading a newspaper (I just read the funnies on saturday) because I was doing so much homework, and it's more natural for me to use the computer for news than it is to use print. Also, my parents read the local newspaper in about 20 minutes, then recycle it. It's not that big.
  • What is your favorite medium and why? Explain in detail.
My favorite medium is music because I like playing music. My dad has taught me to play the guitar. Other members of my family play as well, and my father has lots of CD.
  • What type of media consumer are you? Are you active or passive? Explain.
I think that I am mostly passive because I don't have to shop for CDs, I don't look online for news unless I really want to, and I am not interested (too much) in current trends. However, I am a little bit active. I tune in every week to Wait Wait, and I frequently surf the internet, hunting for info about my interests and school.
  • What would advertisers say about you (if you were to guess). How would they strategize to sell you their product? What product do you think that would be?
I think that they would say that I am interested in tech-y gadgets (if I shopped frequently). They would also say that I like creative software (like iMovie) and music. They could get my attention by putting in pop-ups at the sites I visit that can get around the pop-up filter.
  • Do you think your media usage is healthy? Why/not?
I think that my media usage is healthy because I am not obbsessed with the media. I do homework and exercise regularly. I have a mix of the types of sources I like.
  • How do your media habits compare to those of the KFF kids? Who has healthier habits?
They spent much more time watching TV and less time exercising. I think I am more balenced in this respect.
  • Are there any anomolies to your usage this weekend? Are there extenuating circumstances that made it high or low?
No.
